Green Print

Go green at work Even in today’s environmentally-aware society, where everyone is striving to do their bit, it is still difficult to control the amount of waste produced by a working office.
Between the vast amounts of
excess paper, used plastic toner cartridges, and computers and machines buzzing
all day long, the workplace is not a good starting point for becoming ‘at one’
with the world.
This is especially true of offices that require lengthy paper
printouts, such as law firms, which produce sheet up sheet of printed documents.
But does it really have
to be this way? Surely with the world’s continual technological breakthroughs,
there is a way to at least control all this waste?
Well, yes there is.
A few technical
experts have got together and have developed a software that does precisely
that. They have called this software
Kappris. In addition to enabling fully
automated printing within the workplace, as well as whole host of other
features,
Kappris plays a significant role in making the workplace a greener
place.
One of the main
features of the
Kappris software is it helps to reduce the amount of paper produced,
and ultimately wasted. It does this by defaulting to a duplex function that
enables certain documents to be printed on both sides of the paper, yet still
maintains the simplex format for printing letters and suchlike on a single side.
This massively reduces the amount of paper wasted in an office, potentially by
up to 50%. Kappris provides an effective solution to halve the amount of paper
used.
But it’s not just the
paper that’s an issue here, printed paper signifies used toner cartridges, and
many of the components in these cartridges cannot be adequately recycled, and
so end up as damaging landfill. The
Kappris software has a feature that allows
the user to control how much he or she prints from Outlook. So instead of
having to print out pages of a whole conversation, specific parts or paragraphs
of the conversation can be isolated and then printed.
Another feature of
Kappris software is it can switch to mono printing for documents required in
black or in one single colour, rather than using the full 4-colour process each
time.
Both these features save vast amounts of toner, significantly reducing
the company’s overall toner usage, therefore producing a lot less landfill
waste.
Kappris software also
allows you to re-route larger volume printing jobs to photocopiers or printers
that are better equipped for large jobs, rather than to the smaller workgroup
printers which operate using more power. Apart from the obvious advantage of
not clogging up workgroup printers, this also has a positive effect on your
company’s overall carbon footprint due to using less electricity.
So as you can see,
it’s not too late to try to undo some of the damage caused by waste within the
workplace. We all try to recycle and be as green as we can at home, so let
Kappris help you to make the workplace that little bit greener too.
